Tropical Storm Fay continues on its track south of Cuba this afternoon. Movement is toward the west northwest at a faster rate of 17 mph; a gradual turn toward a more northerly direction is expected. It has strengthened slightly from yesterday to maximum winds of 50 mph.Various hurricane and tropical storm watches and warnings are in effect for:
- Florida Keys
- Southern, southwestern, and southeastern coasts of Florida
- Lake Okeechobee
- Large portions of the coast of Cuba
- Grand Cayman
There is still considerable uncertainty in model forecasts of the storm's track and intensity, but strengthening to hurricane force before reaching Florida is likely.
