The National Weather Service reports that the winter of 2011-12 was in the top 10 warmest for major cities in northern Ohio and adjacent Pennsylvania, including Cleveland, Erie, Akron, Youngstown, Mansfield, and Toledo:
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN CLEVELAND FOR THE WINTER SEASON WAS 35.0
DEGREES. THAT MAKES THIS SEASON THE 7TH WARMEST ON RECORD. THE
WARMEST WINTER WAS THE WINTER OF 1931 AND 1932 WITH AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 38.7 DEGREES.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN ERIE PENNSYLAVNIA FOR THE WINTER SEASON
WAS 34.5 DEGREES. THAT MAKES THIS SEASON THE 10TH WARMEST ON RECORD.
THE WARMEST WINTER WAS THE WINTER OF 1889 AND 1890 WITH AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 37.9 DEGREES.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN AKRON/CANTON FOR THE WINTER SEASON WAS
33.9 DEGREES. THAT MAKES THIS SEASON TIED FOR THE 4TH WARMEST ON
RECORD WITH THE WINTER OF 1982-83. THE WARMEST WINTER WAS THE WINTER
OF 1889 AND 1890 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 38.4 DEGREES.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN YOUNGSTOWN FOR THE WINTER SEASON WAS
33.7 DEGREES. THAT MAKES THIS SEASON THE 6TH WARMEST ON RECORD. THE
WARMEST WINTER WAS THE WINTER OF 1931 AND 1932 WITH AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 39.2 DEGREES.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN MANSFIELD FOR THE WINTER SEASON WAS
33.1 DEGREES. THAT MAKES THIS SEASON THE 6TH WARMEST ON RECORD. THE
WARMEST WINTER WAS THE WINTER OF 1931 AND 1932 WITH AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 36.0 DEGREES.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IN TOLEDO FOR THE WINTER SEASON WAS 32.8
DEGREES. THAT MAKES THIS SEASON THE 10TH WARMEST ON RECORD. THE
WARMEST WINTER WAS THE WINTER OF 1889 AND 1890 WITH AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 37.8 DEGREES.
