The National Weather Service reports that the winter of 2011-12 was in the top 5 warmest in much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. St. Cloud, Minnesota tied the warmest winter temperature on record. The top 10 warmest data from Minneapolis, St. Cloud, and Eau Claire:

Top 4 Warmest Winter in Northern Michigan

WARMEST WINTER WAS THE WINTER OF 1889 AND 1890 WITH AN AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 37.8 DEGREES.  

2nd Warmest Winter Confirmed at Boston, Rest of Southern New England

The previous report of the second warmest winter on record at Boston has been confirmed by the National Weather Service. It was also the 6th warmest December and the 3rd warmest February. The trace of snow in December was the second least snowiest, and the 0.9" in February was the 8th lowest amount. The 1.00" of precipitation was the 5th lowest for February.

It was also the second warmest winter at Hartford, Providence, and Worcester. Other records set in southern New England were:

Top 3 Warmest Winter in Central New York, NE Pennsylvania

Although climate records date back only to 1951 in Binghamton NY, the National Weather Service reports that the winter of 2011-12 was the second warmest on record. It was the 3rd warmest at Syracuse NY and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where records are over 110 years old. The seasonal snowfall at Binghamton of 38.7" to date, if it holds through the spring, will also be the lowest on record by over 9".
