It's Official: Austin Smashes 155-Year Summer Heat Record

For other record temperatures in Texas and elsewhere, see:

As 100°+ heat persisted through August, it became apparent that south-central Texas was approaching an all-time summer heat record. That trend was confirmed last night when the June-August meteorological summer closed out with a record-smashing average of 88.4° at Austin Mabry, 1.7° above the previous high in one of the longest official records in the U.S. dating back to 1854. The 3 highest average summer temperatures have now been recorded at Austin since 1998. This was also the warmest June-August ever at San Antonio and Del Rio. At he other end of the world climate and weather have been strange too.
Australia's winter has been very warm. See this post for details: http://bravenewclimate.com/2009/09/03/australias-weird-winter/ .
It is partly climate but climate has also a role.

I didn't check the post, the last sentence should read"

Wow, those temperature departures are huge for a monthly average. (U.S. readers should bear in mind that they're in °C, so they range as high as 11°F). As you say, any given day, month, or year is weather, but eventually it accumulates to be climate. Thanks for the link.
