At New York's Central Park, where records have been kept for 144 years, the annual average of 57.3° surpassed the previous record tied in 1998/1991/1990. The previous warmest years at New York were:

THIS MAKES IT THE SECOND WARMEST YEAR ON RECORD SINCE 1949. THE WARMEST YEAR OCCURRED IN 1998 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 48.8 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR POUGHKEEPSIE NY FOR 2012 WAS 53.4 DEGREES WHICH IS 3.6 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS MAKES IT THE WARMEST YEAR ON RECORD SINCE 1949.
