Second Warmest Winter at Boston

Preliminary National Weather Service data indicate that the average temperature of 37.2° for winter 2011-12 at Boston was the second warmest since records began in 1872. This winter was just 0.6° below the record in 2001-02. Each of the 3 winter months averaged at least 5° above the long-term climatology. Only 3 days in February were colder than average. Including the trace which fell through the afternoon today, the total snowfall so far this season of 7.8" is less than 23% of normal. The previous top 10 warmest winters at Boston:

  1. There is crazy stuff going on across the US East Coast. Meanwhile, its been freezing with snows in the UK. All very strange.
